How do you choose which region will be the Country Focus for the year?
We choose regions where there is an obvious need. Maybe there are lots of youth spread between lots of small churches. Would a combined worship event be helpful? Maybe there are lots of youth wanting to reach their friends at school. Would training on mission be helpful? Maybe there are lots of youth wanting to love their community. Would setting up a Big Week Out be helpful?

We also choose regions where lots of campers come from, and where leaders already have connections. This gives the project the best chance of being a success because we know it will be supported, both by participants and volunteers.

Why do you focus on a region for only one year?
The Country Focus aims at encouraging and empowering young Christians. We hope that by sticking around for a whole year that young people and their churches will feel inspired to carry on the project in the coming year. The aim of the Country Focus is to encourage local Christian community among youth. We hope that a one year focus will be enough time to start something that can be continued by local leaders with some ongoing support from the Network.

It’d be amazing to have a Country Focus team for all regions in South Australia! We’re always asking God for more workers for the harvest. If you’re interested contact us.

Who pays for it?
The CE Network is supported by the CE State Board so that we can bless regional communities. Volunteers from the local area and Adelaide also contribute a lot of their own time and resources. And lastly, there are those faithful givers who quietly give because they know how hard it is to be a young Christian in a regional area.
But … we also want to help communities work out how their project can keep going without our money. Church sponsorship? Applying for local grants? Fundraising? This is part of the community taking ownership for the project.

What if the Country Focus project isn’t going so well?
If we start a project in a region and it doesn’t seem to be working we’d need to work out why. Are we doing something that the local community want, or did we misunderstand what they were after? If we got it wrong we will listen to the community again and support them to run a project that meets their needs.

Hey! I live in the country, how come nothing is happening near me?
SA is a big space! CE only picks one region a year to focus on so we can do it well and help the community set it up for next year. Something could happen in your community next year.

How can I get help if nothing is happening in my area?
If you’re in an area which hasn’t had a Country Focus project let us know.

Even if there’s no Country Focus event in your area there’s still ways that we can help you. Check out Grants to find out how we can equip you to get a project happening in your area.
